BUCKHANNON -- A Buckhannon group interested in long range community development has given the city a check.
Create Buckhannon presented the city with a check for $1,000 to help landscape the Route 33 entrance ramps into Buckhannon.
The city has finished landscaping the Main Street exit ramp and will start work on the Route 20 exit next.
It said the landscaping creates a good impression of the city.
"This is the first thing people see when they come into our county - we don't want it to be some dull piece of ground. We want it to be something people are going to remember, have them say 'remember that beautiful exit ramp?' Something that can be a positive light on our economy," said Jay Harper, with Create Buckhannon.
Create Buckhannon hopes to raise money to buy more trees for the exit ramps, said organizers.
If you'd like to help, send a check to the Upshur County Development Authority at P.O. Box 109, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Make sure to designate the check to "Create Buckhannon."
