GLENVILLE -- The Gilmer County Sheriff's Department is searching for Basil Fredrick Hill, 29, of Charleston.

Witnesses saw Hill leave Trezans restaurant in Glenville alone at about 12:10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11.

Hill is approximately 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 140 pounds with shoulder-length brown curly hair.

He was working in Glenville on Dec. 10 and was last seen wearing light-brown Carhart suspenders and a forest-green hooded sweat shirt.

Police brought in two teams of search dogs on Saturday, Dec. 12 to help locate Hill. They completed an extensive foot search and brought in a helicopter.

The search came up negative, and officers used a sonar-equipped boat on Saturday, Dec. 13.

With some help from the media, officers got a tip from a local couple, who told officers they saw Hill at about 1:30 a.m. on Friday, near Route 33 West.

Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the Gilmer County Sheriff's Department at 304-462-7441.

Officials have not ruled out foul play.
