CHESTER -- The crew is safe after a a towboat sank on the Ohio River Wednesday, Dec. 9.

According to the Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Pittsburgh, the investigation is under way into the sinking near Chester.

The vessel Sam S., owned by Georgetown Sand and Gravel, sank after high waves because of high winds overtook the vessel.

The Coast Guard said the pilot of the Sam S. was in the water for a short time and was rescued by a nearby towboat.

The sunken boat remains in the Ohio River, and the Coast Guard reported there is approximately 500 gallons of fuel on board.

According to the Coast Guard, the owner of the boat is taking steps to mitigate the pollution from the fuel.

The Coast Guard has issued an advisory about the sunken boat to all mariners.

Believe what you will coins329, but this is a perfect example of big government and political positioning. How is the government responsible for the sinking of one seemingly insignificant tow boat? It's really very simple. If we can sink tow boats here at home and blame it on the weather or poor navigation, then we can do it in places like China. This was a test run, Obama is planning on sinking tow boats in China so that the cargo ships that bring tires to the U.S. will not be able to make it out of port. Americans will be forced to drive less with a shortage of tires. With less driving comes less use of ethanol that is made from corn. Less use of corn means corn futures will plummet in price. Rush Limbaugh uses his dividends from his investments in corn futures to pay for his diabetic supplies. When corn futures go down, Rush's dividends go down, he can no longer afford his diabetic supplies. Without these supplies he could become sick or die from renal failure. So in short, our President is trying to kill Rush Limbaugh. Doesn't get any more simple than that.

I am still laughing at Taco Joe's remarks and wonder what ever possessed him to put those thoughts down for posterity to enjoy at his expense!!! I love the line about the "anti-tow boat lobby" they must really pack clout to control the weather!!

Uh...what? Barack Obama is responsible for high winds and waves?

What exactly is the "anti-tow boat lobby"?

This is snark, right? Probably the funniest post I've ever read on wtrf.com

This is exactly what happens when you let liberals control our water ways. Is Barack Obama going to do anything about this? No, he has an anti-tow boat lobby that has him in their back pocket.
