WELLSBURG -- Remains found in a 100-year-old Wellsburg mansion have been identified as farm animals.

According to a report released from the Smithsonian Institute, the bones ranged in size from those either of a horse or a chicken. Pig bones were also found in the mix of remains.

During the investigation, it was determined that over the years a large amount of animal butchering occurred in conjunction with the operations of the Knights of Saint George farm, now referred to as Aspen Manor.

It is still undetermined why the bones were inside a basement wall.
