BUCKHANNON -- The Upshur County Solid Waste Department and the city of Buckhannon have started an electronics recycling program.
You can now recycle all types of electronics for free, with the exception of TVs, which cost $10.
The Solid Waste Authority says this is the first year-long electronics recycling program in the state, and that it's funded by a $20,000 state grant.
"Well, I think it it's really important to keep the items out of the landfill since that's not space that's readily available every day, and it's not cheap to put together a new landfill," says Sandy McClure-Malcolm, director of the Upshur County Solid Waste Authority.
If you have more than five electronics to recycle, you'll need to call the City of Buckhannon Transfer Station for an appointment at 304-472-4443 X 1.
