CAMERON -- Many residents in Marshall County were startled on Saturday morning by what they thought was an explosion at a facility south of Cameron.
However, Shawn Trahan, communications manager for Nisource Gas Transmission and Storage, said workers were clearing gas out of a pipeline and a hydration unit caught fire.
"The fire was quickly controlled, we are now conducting a root cause analysis to find out what caused the problem," said Trahan.
A portion of the storage facility is closed but it has not disrupted supply.
According to Marshall County Emergency Management director Tom Hart, one worker suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
Hart said there is significant damage to the one building at the facility.
A news release sent out Saturday, from Marshall County, originally said the incident was an explosion.
