Adam Harper was killed in the accident.

FAIRMONT -- One person was killed Sunday afternoon when a motorcycle and a car collided on Route 310 in Marion County.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. near the Route 310 intersection with Interstate 79, in Fairmont.

Adam Harper, 21, was on a motorcycle travelling East on Route 310 in Fairmont.

A car, with two women and a juvenile inside, was exiting I-79.

The vehicles collided in a T-bone accident and the car caught fire on impact, deputies said.

Harper was pronounced dead on scene, according to deputies.

All three people in the car were taken to the hospital, deputies said. As of Sunday night, one woman was still at Ruby Memorial Hospital. The two other passengers were treated and released, deputies said.

Traffic was backed up as Route 310 and the on and off ramps to I-79 were closed.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department is still investigating.

Colt,

It's a shame that you put down those that try to help in such a tragedy. I was nearby and was there in less than 2 minutes. Unfortunately, there was nothing EMS could have for Adam. Perhaps next time you could use your time and thoughts in a more productive manner and wish the family and friends of Adam well and give them your condolences.

My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and all his friends. As an EMS professional and an old friend of Adam and his family, we can only do as much as we can but God has the final say. My only suggestion is that everyone prays for the family and holds on to their own as tight as they can.

To Adams family I am truely very sorry for your loss. I grew up with Adam and James and they are and were both WONDERFUL people. Adam would have done anything to help anyone that he could and I'm sure if he would have seen something like that just driving by he would have stopped. Adam I know you can see this may you rest in peace and god be with you and your family at this very hard time. You were way too young and loved to be taken from us so soon. I love and will miss you dearly adam. God bless the Harpers and everyone please pray for the family.

Colt, The fire department on Morgantown Ave is a City of Fairmont fire department. They only respond to calls in the city limits. The wreck happened in the county just outside of the city limits. It is S.O.P. for two or more ambulance's to respond to a wreck. Just because you seen one @ 3rd street bridge doesn't mean there wasn't one closer or even on scene just after you went by. MCRS is a very busy organization, responding to 1200 call per month, so you never know where you will see one of there ambulance's. EMS workers, I know this is your job but I also know these types of calls leave deep emotional scars. Don't let these types of calls discourage you, you have spent 2 years in college to get your degree as emergency medical tech.-Paramedic. Your skills and knowledge do help save lives. Adams family, may God bless you and help you through this tragic time.

Speed or not please dont sit and judge, your children and young adults and for that matter adults push the limits every second of everyday the difference is they have gotten away with it!! The fact is a wonderful young man passed away his family and friends will never be the same the people in the car will be forever changed. RIP Adam and lots of prayers to your family and friends xx

Colt, what more could've been done? He was dead, no saving him. It may take some trucks and ambulances a while to get there but individual firefighters and EMT's usually arrive on scene very quickly. I'm sure they did the best they could given the situation.

To the one who drove by: the problem with people like complaining is that you just drive by and do not do anything to help before ems, fire or police could get there because of rubberneckers like yourself. Do not speak of the responders unless you have/are one. I have been with the Rivesville Fire Department for 8 yrs and because of people like you, it slows us down. You should keep family and friends in mind instead

I was in traffic a few minutes after the accident occured. The only thing on fire at the time was the motorcycle. I called 911 and they said paramedics were on the way. There were no police on the scene. There is a fire department on Morgantown Ave. that was closed up when I drove past. I was on Merchant street getting on the 3rd Street bridge before I was an ambulance. I could have turned back and drove normal speed and probably would have beat everybody back. And thats with sunny weather Sunday traffic. Perhaps more could have been done.

This is a very sad situation for all parties envolved! Two of my family members & one friend were the vehicle that the motorcyclist past before hitting the vehicle, it was a tramatic experience for everyone whom witnessed it! My thoughts & Prayers go out to all whom were a part of yesterday's tragic event. Although speed was a factor, the boy killed was still someone's son =~(

Does it really matter, a young man was killed and three others were injured. There are hundreds of children in Fairmont mourning the loss of their good friend. Never mind the parents and family of Adam. What was told on the news is what was told to the family by the police..but like I said, does it change your life and is it really that important. What we all know for sure is that it was horrific and a young man lost his life!

Your television commentary on the accident was totally wrong. The motorcycle was travelling East on 310. The automobile was getting off the Interstate 79 and 310 exit. The car was t-boned by the motorcycle while attempting to enter 310.
