Jean Watson, like many of us watched the drama unfold on television and she tells me tonight that she was gripped with fear until she was able to confirm that her son was serving at Fort Hood was safe.

Military police swarm the base after a doctor goes on a bloody rampage killing 13 military personnel. Sgt. Ryan Leach, a 2002 Bridgeport High School Graduate was stationed there and his mother was frantic that he could be among the wounded.

"Naturally my heart dropped, because I couldn't get a hold of him originally because I tried his cell phone. I kept getting put straight to voice mail. I left him a message, got online and looked at everything I could. I just prayed a lot until we got a hold of him."

It was finally this posting on Facebook which informed Jean Watson of Bridgeport that her son was okay. He wrote, "just to let everyone know I'm safe.” Watson tells me it was then she could relax, but still shaken that a place she thought was safe could become the target of a killer.
