ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -- Polls closed at 7:30 p.m. in both the Buckeye and Keystone states.
Voters in Belmont County didn''t have a long, dramatic slate of issues and races to vote on.
In this off-year-election, they were to decide the fate of one county-wide issue, four school levies, three state issues and several council and township trustee races.
The social services levy has been a big point of interest, and so have the three statewide issues--on veterans' benefits, livestock care and casinos.
Belmont County Election Board Chairman Frankie Lee Carnes described the turnout.
"It's a beautiful day," said Carnes. "We're hoping voters take advantage of the day. Some precincts are reporting light turnout, others moderate. But everything is going very well. Any problems they do have are very few and very minor. And the best news of all--we've only had one poll worker excuse herself due to illness."
In Monroe County, at least six poll workers called off work, citing flu-like symptoms.
