CLARKSBURG -- Police are investigating a string of burglaries including sixteen of which occured in the last month and a half; most recently a series of break-ins in Cadiz and one in Hopedale.

The sheriff said, at this point, they are not related. "We're still piecing together who was involved and why. However, we are asking to public that if anyone knows anything about the burglaries please contact us." However, he is hoping surveillance video of one of the burglaries will help put someone behind bars.

There is surveillance video of the American Legion in Hopedale on Oct. 17 of a man breaking into the legion from the back of the building. Legion Manager, Vee Jay Beadling believes that this is not an inside job.

"I don't think that he was involved with the legion. Even when we set up for karaoke, he would have known where the money is," said Beadling.

Along with surveillance of the incident outside, the video shows the burglar's face.

"He just stares up at the camera, just stares. It's like he doesn't even realize it's the camera itself. He got $1,200 and managed to get away with one bottle of booze," said Beadling.

Sheriff Myers said, "he was seen leaving out the rear door, was confronted by a security guard, who didn't apprehend him. We are just hoping that someone will see this and say this is whoever he is."
