CLARKSBURG -- United Way volunteers all over the country say giving time is just as important as giving treasure.

Volunteers can be found through out North Central West Virginia including those who donate their time and muscle with the United Way's winterization program.

Bob Welling and The Home Depot's Cat Zymczak put together teams that winterize homes in Harrison County.

"It helps immensely because there's elderly people or there's handicapped people or low income people that don't have the ability or the cost, you know the expenses to be able to go out and do this and at least now we're wrapping their windows preventing the cold from coming in," said Zymczak.

Mary Anne Kersting has spent the past 45 years volunteering her time and money to the United Way and knows from first hand experience how effective the 23 agencies can be, after hospice came to her home when her husband died,

Whether it is going into peoples homes or doing administrative work, these three volunteers say giving back to their communities gives them an overwhelming sense of satisfaction.

"I think time is important also, not just your treasure. I think you need to give your time and do what you can to help your whole community," said Kersting.
