SHADY SPRING --  A local high school student has been appointed to a state-level drug prevention advisory group.

Shady Spring senior Christian Martine was sworn into the West Virginia Partnership to Promote Community Well-Being. Raleigh County Judge H. L. Kirkpatrick did the swearing in on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Partnership is the state Governor's appointed substance abuse prevention and intervention planning body.

"We meet four times a year, as well as additionally for work groups. Our goal is to assist the Governor in developing his drug prevention plan, which, this one will be unveiled at the 2009 Governor's Drug Summit, coming up shortly," said Martine.

The West Virginia Partnership consists of representatives from various state agencies in all three branches of the government and other organizations.
