PLEASANT VALLEY -- The rain Saturday afternoon didn't dampen Heston Farm's second annual Pumpkin Fest.
A crowd anticipated at about 300 made the drive to Pleasant Valley to honor the humble pumpkin.
Visitors could enjoy warm home cooked food, family portraits, new play sets and rides, and even carve their own jack-o-lanterns.
Family farm owners said they raised bigger pumpkins this year than last, despite the summer's heavy rains.
"The biggest one we have weights over 500 pounds, so we're pretty happy with that," said Michael Heston. "It was just a bad year because it rained a lot, so a lot of the pumpkins didn't do so well initially, but we managed to save them."
This is the last event at Heston Farms for the year until Family movie night begins again next spring.
