FLUSHING -- A Cleveland area man staying in a cabin with friends near Flushing went to walk his beagle around 10 p.m. but wasn't seen again for several hours.
When he didn't return his friends went looking for him.
The man was discovered around 4:30 a.m. in a field near the Belmont County line with a bullet wound to the leg. Adding to the mystery, his pants weren't torn where the bullet apparently entered his leg, according to police.
Sheriff Ronald Myers said the man was wet from lying in the rain and he couldn't explain how he got there. The man said he couldn't remember the previous six hours and tests showed he wasn't using any alcohol or drugs and that neither he nor his friends had fired a gun.
The man was treated at Wheeling Hospital for the bullet wound and doctors can't seem to explain it either.
Anyone who may have spotted the man walking near the Harrison-Belmont County line along Hawthorne Road near Flushing should call our Crime Fighters Tipline at 1-800-223-0312.
