MORGANTOWN -- A special election was held for zoning in the Cheat Lake and Cheat Neck areas Saturday.

Residents got to decide whether to create zoning and set up restrictions for development and construction in an effort to manage development in those areas.

Both the Cheat Lake and Check Neck proposed zoning was defeated.

Cheat Lake voted 484 to 359 against the zoning.

Check Neck voted 446 to 383 against the zoning.

Cheat Lake had a 18% voter turnout and Cheat Neck had a 33% voter turnout, election officials say.

Great, more unmanaged building. Heres to hoping gas stations, strip clubs and Hot Spots build next to the peoples homes that voted against zoning.

God forbid a nice community be kept eyesore-free. Speaking of eyesore I can see why the Sunset Harbor Marina folks were against the zoning. They might have to make it not look like trashville.
