MORGANTOWN -- Advocates and survivors of breast cancer gathered in Morgantown Wednesday to jump-start Breast Cancer Awareness month in the courthouse yard.
The group hung the bright pink wreath on the front of the courthouse, with the support of the county commission and other community groups.
They want to remind everyone that breast cancer is the second-deadliest form of the disease.
We hope this program helps to make the area people more aware of what's going on," says Harriet Colebank with the Mon. Co. Community Education Outreach Service, "and that every time they go down High Street and see the wreath on the courthouse, it'll remind them of the things they need to do to help prevent and find a cure for breast cancer."
Survivors were recognized during the ceremony and given pink carnations.
