OAK HILL -- Fayette County School Board members, parents, the community and students gathered at New River Elementary School for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Principal, Lee Jones says it was a great opportunity to display the new facility.

"This was an opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this school great," said Jones.

The new school serves nearly 800 students and the facility has the latest technology.

"We computer labs with 30 computers and in a few months we hope to have a wireless system all over the building," said Jones.

The facility also includes a New River Health Center.

"We provide medical services including dental, physical examinations and immunizations," said School Health Director, Teri Harlan. "It takes away the transportation barrier and financial barrier because we provide services right here at school."

The health center is open Monday through Friday until 5 p.m.
