New Martinsville -- According to New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil, heroin use by kids is becoming a big issue in not only New Martinsville but in surrounding counties as well.
Cecil said several cases have been reported recently, and it's hard to stop. The chief added that heroin comes in a "postage" stamp-type package, it's easy to get and it's easy to hide.
He added that kids are taking it and not realizing how bad it is. They are also mixing it with Zanex and other drugs, he added, and then overdoses are happening.
Cecil told 7News they get grants to crack down on D.U.I and highway safety, but not drug trafficking.
