Steubenville marked the day on Thursday.
WELLSBURG -- Flags all over the country will be lowered today to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America.
Today's Patriot Day national observance will also include a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
Flags will also be lowered on Saturday in West Virginia to commemorate the life and service of Glen B. Gainer, Junior, West Virginia's 18th State Auditor.
Brooke High School is holding a September 11th ceremony this morning at 8:00 a.m.
It will be held in the gym.
Those who lost their lives in the September 11th attack were remembered at the Historic Fort Steuben last night in Jefferson County.
The Council of Churches held a commemorative concert to mark the eighth anniversary of the attack.
Those who attended the ceremony listened to the sounds of the Toronto Community Band and the Civic Choral Society.
The opening prayer was conducted by the Reverend Robert Shearer of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and the pledge of allegiance was led by Helen Dorsey of the church council.
Organizers said they chose to hold the event last night because tonight is a football night.
