Bluefield --  Concerns about swine flu set precautionary plans into action at colleges all across the country.

A campus-wide health alert has been set in place at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia to ward off the H1N1 virus.

Everyone at the school is being encouraged to keep an eye out for any flu like symptoms, to take immediate action, before the virus can spread. David Taylor, the Dean of Students, says they're working to put an informational pamphlet together to hand out on campus, educating everyone about the H1N1 virus.

In the meantime, anyone feeling sick at all, is encouraged to get to a doctor immediately. In the case that students diagnosed with Swine Flu cannot get off campus, they'll be sent to a designated dorm quarantine area. Taylor says, "Basically what we offer on campus is for our students to go to Alumni Hall, which right now is a vacant dorm. So we have set that dorm up for quarantine purposes."

While Bluefield College hasn't had any swine flu scares so far, they're working to instruct students and faculty about prevention.

Health experts are recommending that students clean often-touched surfaces like doorknobs, keyboards, and remote controls.

Last week, the CDC reported that with hundreds of students sick with swine flu on at least 17 U.S. college campuses, this is the highest rate of influenza infection for this time of year since the last pandemic flu, the Hong Kong flu, in 1968.
