Verizon telephone customers in Grant Town and Baxter have had their service restored.
The outage happened at about 7:10 Wednesday morning, and affected about 200 customers, Verizon Representative Harry Mitchell says.
A hardware problem caused all customers with a 278 exchange, including those in Grant Town and Baxter, to be without service until about 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.
