Students spend their summer break away from school, back in the classroom.
Story by Alicia Suka
HANOVER -- 24 kids have been getting together at Huff Consolidated School in Hanover for the last several weeks of the summer.
The students involved are in kindergarten through sixth grade.
They read daily, but they also participate in other activities like games, sports and arts and crafts.
There are six volunteers who are also serving as mentors.
"The kids really get into the program. You can just see it on their face everyday when they get here. They tell you how happy they are and how much fun they have here and they just keep coming back so it must be fun for them," said Eric Bailey, an Energy Express Volunteer.
Energy Express will continue at Huff Consolidated School through next week.
Overall, it's a six week summer program.
The students are also served breakfast and lunch, five times a week.
