What began as a contest for more than 400 contestants has been cut down to just five.

Wheeling Island -- The semi-finals for the Wheeling Island Idol Contest is now down to five contestants and on a two-week break.
On July 23rd, the finals will be held at the Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack showroom beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The finalists will sing two songs, which were chosen randomly by gender.
Here are the top five finalists and the songs they'll be performing:
Elizabeth Eddy of West Alexander, PA. "Before He Cheats" Carrie Underwood and "Since You've Been Gone" Kelly Clarkson.
Risha Marple of Bellaire will be singing "Bubbly" by Coly Caillait and "One" from Mary J. Blige.
Matt Van Fossen Jr. of Martins Ferry will perform "Gives You Hell" from the All-American Rejects and "You Found Me" by the Fray.
Gary Barker of East Liverpool drew "This Love" by Maroon Five and "If You Could Only See" from Tonic.
Marybeth O'Brian of Cameron will be singing Rhianna's "Umbrella" and "Love Song" by Sarah Bareillis.
As a special attraction on Thursday, July 23rd Abby, formally of the Povertyneck Hillbillies will perform as well as last year's winner Carrie Lutz.
