NEW MARTINSVILLE -- Robert Maine, the man accused of shooting and killing his cousin in New Martinsville back in March, has waived his right to a speedy trial.

According to the circuit clerk's office, one of Maine's attorneys has been absent due to being injured in a car accident.

Now, Prosecutor Tim Haught has asked maine to waive his right to a speedy trial due to the attorney's absence and Maine agreed.

According to authorities, Maine is facing first degree murder charges after allegedly killing his own cousin over what family members referred to as a "silly fight."
