WESTON -- Lewis County Republicans took advantage of today's patriotic theme to speak out about important issues.
A tea party or Taxed Enough Already party was held at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
The event included costume contests a miss tea party pageant and wet tea bag toss.
Officials say the event raised awareness about the Republican's stand on term limits using tax money for abortions, and the possibility of holding Guantanamo Bay prisoners in West Virginia.
"Show a little patriotism on the 4th and get people active," encouraged Ernest Bennett, who claims he isn't part of any group, just an impassioned individual. "People get in ruts and don't go out and do the things they should do and later they go, 'Oh gosh, I can't believe our country is doing this.' Well, here's an opportunity to get involved and do something, and when you get done with this event, go out and do some other things."
Similar events were also held Saturday in Bridgeport and in Elkins.
