BEVERLY  --  A head-on collision around 7 a.m. Saturday kills two people.

State Police from the Elkins Detachment say the accident happened on 219 South near Beverly.

Troopers say Derek Ray Fortney, 19 of Valley Head, was driving a gray Ford Ranger north on US-219.

Troopers say Fortney's vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes of US-219 and struck a green Chevy 2500 operated by William D. Baisden, 62 of Elkins.

Police say the two vehicles struck head-on along the western edge of the roadway.

The Randolph County coroner pronounced both men dead on scene.

The WV State Police were assisted by Elkins and Beverly Fire Department and the WV DOH.

The accident is still under investigation.
